Burger King Supports Project Care

The business community has taken a lead in the Upper Bucks Drug Treatment Center. US Restaurants, the area Burger King franchisee, has raised more than $3 million since 1985 in support of Project CARE, a Drug Treatment Center founding member. Since US Restaurants learned that youth were selling drugs outside of the Quakertown Burger King in the mid-1980s, Burger King Restaurants in the area have been selling fund-raising coupon sheets. Since mankind first took to the seas thousands of years ago, they always brought along members of the animal kingdom with them on board their ships. The animals were brought along for many reasons, such as a source of food, to fight rodent infestations, or for companionship. Coast Guard crews followed this ancient custom and adopted numerous varieties of mammals and birds, among others, as mascots and brought them along on their voyages. Many times these animals were actually enlisted in the service, complete with service and medical records, uniforms, and their own bunks. Here they were promoted for exemplary performance or were sent before a captain’s mast to receive punishment from the skipper for some transgression or another and were “busted” back down to seaman.

Many actually saw combat against the enemy, some were wounded, some died, and many were decorated. Quite a few even lived to a ripe old age and enjoyed a well-earned retirement ashore. Many of the shore units too have adopted a mascot to help them around the station and when they venture out on a patrol or a rescue. All Coast Guard mascots have served just as their human counterparts have, with courage, honor, and are “Always Ready” to go to those in need of assistance.

That recruit went on to become an excellent employee who remains with the company today.

In addition to drug testing & drug rehab and opportunities for drug rehab, Eastern Industries offers an Employee Assistance drug rehab and periodic supervisor training to teach managers how to recognize impairment on the job. Employees also receive a refresher on the companys drug-free workplace policy once a year.

History of the Mini Blind

on February 17th, 2008 by Admin

History of the Mini Blind

A mini blind (mini-blind, miniblind) is a type of non-vertical window blind made of long, narrow slats held together by string and located inside the window. Its slats are not as wide as venetian blind slats.2 A mini blind has more slats than a regular Venetian blind because its slats are narrow. The slats of mini window treatments are less than half the width of regular Venetian window coverings. The slats are opened and closed by rotating a rod or by directly pulling a string. They are raised and lowered by pulling other strings.

window treatments made of narrow, light-weight horizontal wood slats, adjustable to admit or exclude light, were developed in 1794, and called Venetian window coverings. The window treatments were often used instead of window curtains or shutters. In the 1840s, these window coverings were held together by flat strips of cloth instead of by cords perhaps to shade the lift holes and like today they came in various colors.4 In 1966, a new pulley system was invented which afforded great improvement in the control mechanism. 5 Over time, narrower slats became more common, as they were easier to clean and they reduced glare at certain settings and their appearance was pleasing to many. In 1946 Henry Sonnenberg and Joe Hunter developed technology and equipment for the production of lightweight aluminum slats (50 mm) for Venetian window treatments, and by 1979, 25 mm slats were popular.6

Each Drug Treatment Center funded through the DFC drug rehab identifies local problems and works with local leaders to develop and implement solutions unique to the problems identified in each community. Dangers of Drugs Decrease drug treatment center

Part of what may account for the decline in drug treatment center among youth is an increased awareness of the dangers of drugs. Survey data show that drug treatment center is inversely correlated with the perception of the harmful effects of drugs.
